What we collect, why, and who can see it.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 September 2026

This policy explains what information Veenue collects, why, who can see it and the choices you have. Veenue is a company registered in The Gambia ("Veenue", "we", "us"). It covers the Veenue apps for iOS and Android, veenue.io and the event and plan pages we host.

1. Summary

  • We collect what we need to run Veenue: your phone number, your name, the tickets you buy and what you do in the app.
  • We don't sell your personal information.
  • Your name and photo are visible to others on Veenue. Your phone number is not shown publicly.
  • You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

2. Information you give us

Account

Your phone number (used to sign in with a one-time code), your name, and optionally a profile photo. We use your phone number's country to set your default country, language and currency, which you can change.

Tickets and payments

The tickets you buy, cancel or transfer, and the Wave number used to pay. Wave processes the payment; we don't receive your Wave PIN or card details.

Organizers

Application details (such as your name, organisation, contact details and any verification documents we ask for), the Wave number you want to be paid on, your events, your organizer page, and the names and phone numbers of team members you invite.

Social features

Things you choose to share: organizers you follow, events you save, plans you create or answer, posts, comments, reactions, poll votes, ratings, event ideas you suggest or support, and reports you make. If someone answers a plan from a shared link without an account, we store the name they enter.

3. Information we collect automatically

  • Location: if you allow it, your device location, to show events near you. You can turn this off in your phone's settings and choose a city instead.
  • Device and usage: app version, device type, language, a notification token, IP address, and how you use the app (for example screens viewed and errors). We use it to keep Veenue working, secure and improving.
  • Camera and photos: only when you choose to scan a ticket or upload an image.

4. How we use information

  • To run Veenue: accounts, event discovery, tickets, transfers, check-in, plans and organizer pages.
  • To process payments, refunds and organizer payouts, and to keep accurate financial records.
  • To send you what you asked for: sign-in codes, ticket confirmations, reminders and updates from organizers you follow, by push notification, SMS, WhatsApp or email. You can switch off marketing messages in the app.
  • To keep Veenue safe: preventing fraud and abuse, enforcing our policies, reviewing reports and verifying organizers.
  • To improve Veenue and understand what people want, for example which events and ideas are popular. Where possible we do this with aggregated data.
  • To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

5. Who can see your information

  • Other users: your name, photo, public posts, comments, ratings and plan answers. People you share a plan with see who has answered.
  • Organizers: when you buy a ticket or join an event, the organizer and their team see your name, photo and ticket status so they can run the event.
  • Service providers who process data for us under contract: Wave (payments and payouts), Amazon Web Services (SMS and email), Meta (WhatsApp messages), OneSignal (push notifications), Google (maps and Google Wallet), Apple (Apple Wallet) and our hosting providers.
  • Veenue staff, where needed to support you, review payouts and moderate content.
  • Authorities, when required by law or to protect people's safety or our rights.
  • A buyer or successor, if Veenue is involved in a merger or acquisition. This policy will continue to apply.

6. Where information is stored

Veenue is based in The Gambia, and our providers may store data in other countries. When we transfer data, we take steps to protect it as this policy describes.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information. We keep what we're required to keep, such as transaction and payout records for accounting, tax and fraud prevention, for as long as the law requires.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Update: change your name, photo and country in the app.
  • Notifications and location: manage these in the app and in your phone's settings.
  • Access or correction: email legal@veenue.io to get a copy of your data or to correct it.
  • Deletion: delete your account in the app under Profile (see our Data Deletion page). You'll need to withdraw any remaining balance first, and organizers must wait until 5 days after their last event.

Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under local data-protection law (for example in Senegal, The Gambia, the UK or the EU). Contact us and we'll help.

9. Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls and monitoring to protect your information. No system is completely secure. If you think your account has been compromised, contact support@veenue.io right away.

10. Children

Veenue is for people aged 18 and over, or younger with a parent's or guardian's consent. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we'll tell you in the app or by message before they take effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
